~ Marian Tyler Ford ~ June 30, 1965 - July 2, 2009
It has been my great joy to share my life with you.
I would not be who I am without having had you in my life.
Be well, my love. I will always be with you.
Much love and gratitude,
On July 2, 2009 Marian died peacefully in her home surrounded by family and loved ones. She is survived by many friends and a large family, including her husband Leonard Luke; her son Austin Hunt; her parents Wanda Tyler Ford and Philip Ford; and her siblings Constance, Sydney and Joseph. Marian was born in Taft, CA on June 30, 1965. She had the opportunity of living many places during her childhood, including the Philippines. She holds a Masters of Library and Information Sciences and has worked as the Collections Development and Acquisitions Librarian at Dickenson State University in North Dakota. In 2001 Marian was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 35. She became very active in the cancer community, including becoming an avid cyclist and participating in many long distance cancer awareness rides across the country. Marian was also actively involved in A.C.T.; Guide Dogs for the Blind; visiting people in need with her therapy dog, Bessie and volunteering in the library at the Arboretum. There will be a Memorial to celebrate Marian's life on Friday, July 17, 2009 from 1:30-3pm at the Columbarium at 1 Loraine Court, in SF.
Marian requested that in lieu of flowers donations be sent to support the library at Tara Mandala, a Buddhist retreat center very near to her heart.
